Hi, my name is Sarah. I am a mother and a nurse. I love the outdoors and gardening and hiking are equivalent to meditation to me.

I am also a Chronic Autoimmune Urticaria warrior.

I was 17 when I left the doctor with my first prescription for an anti-depressant. I had been complaining of chronic joint pain that was so severe that it kept me up at night. My doctor didn’t look any further than his prescription pad and insisted that it was all in my head. That was the start of a long journey of seeking answers from the medical community only to be labeled as anxious and depressed.

Over the years I experienced a wide array of symptoms including chronic hives, migraine headaches, fatigue, brain fog, joint pain, extreme bloating, insomnia, and more. There were times that I felt hopeless and I wondered if maybe I was just “crazy”. In 2012 I had a psoriasis flare that had spread to my face and I couldn’t open my eye all the way. This was my rock bottom, my wake up call, the catalyst to find my own way and take back my power over my body.

Through the internet I found that there are many woman like me and I didn’t feel so hopeless and alone. I also found that there is a lot that you can do for yourself with dietary changes and learning to manage stress and reducing toxins in your environment.

Inspired to help others, I sought out furthering my education. I became a certified functional medicine health coach, AIP and primal certified as well as a health coaching certificate for my day job as a nurse.

This blog was created to help women who are where I was. I seek to empower women to take back their power over their bodies and learn to live a full and happy life. I’m not perfect and I still have bad days but I am leaps and bounds away from where I was.
